Family-focused care
Dr. Clara Lucia Nunez-Romero began as a dentist who wanted to bring truly Spanish-speaking care to Charlotte, making high-quality dental services more accessible for its diverse community. That’s where Dentist Salud began.
Bringing in the whole family
Years later, her son and daughter, Dr. Carlos and Dr. Sara, joined the practice, making Dentist Salud a true family-run dental home where patients know and trust their providers.

Say hello to the Baquero Nunez family
Dr. Clara Lucia Nunez-Romero
With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Clara Lucia Nunez-Romero is a dentist graduated from the National University of Colombia and a specialist in Functional Orthopedics and Orthodontics. She is also a Doctor in Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
She is originally from Colombia where she worked for more than 9 years in her own practice, and then decided to travel with her family to the United States to continue her studies and later opened Dentist Salud.
Dr. Nunez-Romero stands out for her dedication, and for offering personalized treatment to her patients. “I am very proud and grateful to have the opportunity to work with my family to do what we are passionate about and that is reflected in our work with patients."
In her spare time, Dr. Nunez-Romero enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family and friends, as well as reading, self improvement, fitness, gardening, and outdoor sports.

Dr. Carlos Baquero Nunez
Dr. Baquero continues the legacy his mother began, carrying forward the tradition of family-first, bilingual dentistry while incorporating state-of-the-art technology.
He is highly trained in implant dentistry and GentleWave® root canal therapy, helping patients access minimally invasive, comfortable solutions that protect their natural teeth. Dr. Carlos is also a leader in using digital technology, including CBCT scans and Trios® digital impressions, to deliver accurate diagnoses and efficient treatment planning.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Baquero loves racing go-karts, playing video games, and staying active by playing tennis with his dad. On weekends, he and his partner enjoy exploring new restaurants around Charlotte, often with their dog, Scooby Doo, by their side.

Dr. Sara Nunez Baquero
Dr. Sara brings a modern perspective and advanced training to Dentist Salud, carrying on her family’s mission while guiding the practice into new areas of dentistry. She is certified in GentleWave root canal therapy and Invisalign, allowing her to pair clinical precision with a natural ability to put patients at ease. With a special passion for aesthetics and restorative care, Dr. Sara often leads full-mouth rehabilitation cases, working closely with the practice’s in-house lab technician to deliver beautiful, long-lasting results.
What patients love most about Dr. Sara is her approachable style. She takes time to explain treatments in clear, simple terms, in Spanish or English, so care feels easy to understand and never intimidating. For Charlotte’s bilingual community, that clarity and compassion make all the difference.
Outside the office, Dr. Sara is full of energy and loves staying active. She enjoys kickboxing, running, yoga, and long walks with her doodle, Scrappy Doo. She’s also an avid traveler and loves to dance, discover new restaurants, and spend time exploring Charlotte’s vibrant food and culture scene.
Dr. Larry Perkins
Dr. Perkins is originally from Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, and has been in the dental field for over 30 years. He was drawn to dentistry through his passion for helping people and working with his hands, ultimately building a career centered on compassionate, patient-focused care.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1989 and went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 1994. Dr. Perkins owned and operated his own dental practice for over 20 years, bringing extensive experience in both clinical care and patient relationships.
His favorite part of dentistry is the patients—providing high-quality, predictable care with kindness and compassion when they need it most. He values being part of a team that consistently puts patients first and works together to deliver the best possible experience. Dr. Perkins especially enjoys restorative dentistry and helping patients regain confidence in their smiles.
Outside of the office, he has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for over 37 years. Together they have three adult children and two grandchildren. He enjoys spending time outdoors and cherishes every moment with his family.

Many of our team members have been with Dentist Salud for more than a decade. They are bilingual, approachable, and dedicated to making every visit feel welcoming, comfortable, and stress-free.
Mr. Carlos serves as the practice manager of this family-owned dental office, where he takes great pride in building a stable, dedicated team focused on delivering high-quality, personalized care.
Working alongside his wife and children—all dentists—he helps create a truly unique environment where patients experience consistent, honest, and compassionate care at every visit. Many members of the team have been with the practice for over a decade, reflecting a strong culture of commitment, trust, and long-term relationships with patients.
His role is centered on ensuring that every part of the patient experience—from the first phone call to follow-up—is seamless, thoughtful, and efficient. He believes that exceptional care goes beyond dentistry and is rooted in making every patient feel known, valued, and genuinely cared for.
What he enjoys most is seeing the lasting relationships that are built between the team and patients over time. For him, it’s not just about managing a practice—it’s about caring for people. In his free time, Mr. Carlos enjoys playing tennis, watching comedy shows, and eating.
Jenn is originally from Des Moines, Iowa, and has been in the dental field for over 13 years. Although she initially planned to attend pharmacy school, she discovered her true calling after being accepted into dental hygiene school. Jenn completed her undergraduate studies at UNC and has spent her career working in both cosmetic and general dentistry, with a special passion for periodontal care.
She loves being part of the team at Dentist Salud and values the strong sense of family within the practice, as well as the opportunity to continually learn and positively impact patients’ lives. Outside of the office, Jenn enjoys supporting her kids in their activities and staying busy crafting, cooking, singing, and trying new things.
Oksana was born in Ukraine and has lived in New York and Oregon before settling in North Carolina. She has been in the dental field for over 14 years and was drawn to dentistry through her interest in the medical field and her desire to work closely with patients.
She graduated from a dental hygiene program in upstate New York and has practiced as a licensed dental hygienist in multiple states, bringing a broad range of experience and perspective to patient care.
Oksana values a positive, team-oriented environment and enjoys working in a practice where collaboration, communication, and patient-first care are a priority. She especially enjoys building long-term relationships with patients, helping improve their oral health over time, and providing thorough cleanings and education that make a lasting difference.
Outside of the office, Oksana enjoys baking and gardening. She also loves spending time with her daughter, traveling, and trying new experiences together.
Claudia is originally from Colombia and has been in the dental field for over 13 years. She developed an early interest in dentistry and quickly grew to love the environment and the ability to help others. Her background includes studies in commercial relations and accounting, along with experience working for an international company in Spain before joining Dentist Salud.
Claudia enjoys helping patients better understand their dental needs while contributing to a supportive and organized team environment. Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling and sharing new experiences with her family.
Marcela is originally from Argentina and brings over 20 years of experience to the dental field. She earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design in Buenos Aires and later expanded her expertise by becoming a medical and dental billing and coding specialist in the United States.
Marcela enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and a seamless patient experience. She values the strong teamwork at Dentist Salud and the shared commitment to high-quality, personalized care. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, reading, and relaxing with a good laugh.
Patricia is originally from Venezuela and has been in the dental field for over 8 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising and has built her career around customer service in both medical and community settings. Her passion for helping others led her to dentistry, where she enjoys guiding patients through their appointments and helping them better understand their insurance and treatment plans.
Patricia loves creating meaningful connections with patients and being part of a welcoming, team-oriented environment. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring new places and experiences.
Veronica is originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, and has been working in the dental field for over 10 years. She became interested in dentistry through her passion for helping others and completed her training as a dental assistant. Veronica supports the team both chairside and at the front desk, allowing her to connect with patients at every step of their visit.
She enjoys helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their care. Outside of the office, Veronica enjoys running, spending time with her family, and watching sunsets.
Katherine is from Charlotte and is newer to the dental field, with several months of experience. She was inspired to pursue dentistry by her mother, who has worked in the field for many years. With a background in customer service, Katherine brings a warm and welcoming presence to every patient interaction.
She enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and ensuring their visits run smoothly while continuing to grow in her role. Outside of the office, Katherine loves spending time with her family, shopping, and practicing self-care.
Judith is originally from El Salvador and has over 17 years of experience in the dental field. Her interest in dentistry began after a positive experience as a child, which inspired her to pursue a career focused on patient care and comfort. Over the years, she has developed extensive experience assisting in a wide range of procedures.
Judith has a special passion for aesthetic and restorative dentistry, where she enjoys the precision and transformation involved in creating beautiful results. Outside of the office, she is a music lover, a dancer at heart, and values meaningful connections and positive energy.
Berenice is originally from Mexico City and has been in the dental field since 2012. She discovered her passion for dentistry unexpectedly when she stepped in to help at a dental office—and quickly found it was the perfect fit. Over the years, she has developed strong clinical skills and a deep appreciation for patient care.
She especially enjoys restoring teeth and seeing the impact it has on patients’ confidence and quality of life. Outside of the office, Berenice enjoys dancing and spending quality time with her family.
Valentina is originally from Venezuela and has been in the dental field for over 12 years. She earned her dental degree from Santa María University and later continued her career in the United States as a dental assistant. Her strong clinical background allows her to provide thoughtful, patient-centered care.
Valentina enjoys seeing patients leave happy and comfortable after treatment and values the opportunity to continue learning every day. Outside of the office, she is motivated by her family and her commitment to personal and professional growth.
Xochilt is originally from El Salvador and has over 22 years of experience in the dental field. She entered dentistry with a passion for helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles and has built a strong foundation of clinical knowledge over the years.

She also has a background in phlebotomy and is currently working toward her bachelor’s degree.
Gisselle enjoys seeing patients leave the office feeling more confident in their smiles. Outside of the office, she loves playing soccer and continuing her education.
Mabel is originally from the Dominican Republic and has been in the dental field since 2009. She is a trained dentist in her home country and now works as a dental assistant, bringing a strong clinical background and dedication to attention to detail to every patient interaction.

What to expect at your first visit
Welcome!
Your first visit at Dentist Salud is designed to be thorough, comfortable, and easy to understand. We’ll walk you through every step in Spanish or English, making sure you feel confident about your care.
Exam
We begin with digital X-rays, intraoral photos, and a full exam to assess your dental health. This includes an oral cancer screening and gum health evaluation.
Consultation
One of our doctors will sit down with you to review your results, answer questions, and discuss your treatment options. Our goal is to make sure you feel understood and empowered with options that fit your budget and lifestyle.
